Clean Water

Well by Well You Us Well

How we got started

In December 2020 I went back to Uganda and saw the same things I used to see as a kid.

I saw people carrying twenty liter water cans to go fetch water and depending on where their homes were, the trip could be up to two miles.

I travelled and saw where they were fetching the water from and I was amazed to see how many people had gathered to collect water.

I was so taken back that I told them that the next time I came back to Uganda, Iā€™d build them a fresh water well.

Our Mission

Well by Well builds fresh water wells in Northern Uganda, transforming lives one community at a time.

Inspired by a deep personal connection to the people of Uganda, we work with local communities to reduce the burden of water scarcity and improve health, opportunity, and well-being.

Here's how it works

To ensure the best possible results, we build our freshwater wells during the dry season in Northern Uganda (December to early the following year). This allows us to work efficiently without weather disruptions.

Identifying Communities in Need

We work closely with communities to understand their challenges and determine where our wells will have the greatest impact. This collaborative approach ensures that every Well by Well project is a true partnership, empowering communities to take ownership of this life-changing resource.

01

Finding the Source

Once a community is selected, we bring in a skilled surveyor to pinpoint the best location for the well ā€“ a place where abundant water awaits. The anticipation builds as the drill descends, sometimes as deep as a football field, until we strike that precious resource! This moment marks the beginning of transformation for the entire community.

02

Our wells are drilled deep

Sometimes as deep as a football field! ā€“ to access the cleanest underground water sources. Drilled wells also refill quickly when water is pumped out. We typically use borehole pumps, as these are reliable and easy for local communities to maintain.
